1) What is Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser?
This is a subtype of Nd:YAG laser that penetrates deep into the skin and is readily absorbed by hemoglobin and melanin. By creating a variable long pulse duration and an appropriate spot size, it is possible to heat deep skin tissues, such as blood vessels and collagen.
2) What are the benefits of Long Pulsed ND:YAG Laser?
Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser energy can penetrate the skin deeply for treatment of deeper vascular lesions such as telangiectasias, hemangiomas and leg veins. The laser energy is delivered using long pulses which are converted into heat in the tissue thereby destroying unsightly blood vessels. In addition, it can be adjusted to more superficial level for hair reduction and safely heat up the subcutaneous tissue for new collagen production.
3) How is Long Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser performed?
Most patients will feel sensation of rubber snap on each laser beam followed by warm sensation. Anesthetic cream may be applied prior to the treatment for maximum comfort.
4) Are there any downtime/ side effects?
The procedure is safe. Possible mild swelling and redness that should resolve after 30 minutes. More obvious localized redness lasting a few days may occur with intensive treatments. Most patients can resume their daily routine immediately after the treatment.
5) Any special care after the treatment?
