1) What is Peeling Program?
Peeling program is a non-surgical procedure performed exclusively by doctors. Naturally occurring botanical acids (both AHA and BHA) such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, citric acid, malic acid or lactic acid can be combined with anti-oxidants to improve various skin conditions. It is so called program as the treatment is individually tailored based on your diagnosis and generally need series of sessions.
2) What can a Peeling Program do?
Peeling program can remove predictable uniform thickness of damaged or dead skin cells, regulate oil production, unclog pores and boost collagen production. It is effective in treating fine wrinkles, large pores, acne, acne scars, melasma uneven skin tone and dry skin.
3) How is the treatment performed?
After a proper cleansing of the face, peeling solution is applied by our experienced doctors with a soft brush. 3 to 5 coatings are necessary to achieve the desired level of resurfacing. You might feel mild to moderate stingy sensation during the procedure and this will subside 30 mins later.
4) What should be expected after the treatment?
Following application, an initial redness may occur, often accompanied by slight itchiness. White patches may subsequently develop in some people, indicating epidermolysis with separation of the epidermis from the underlying dermis (peeling). Exfoliation typically occurs over several days, and re-epithelialization (regrowth of skin) is completed within 7-14 days.
You should gently wash the face and pat dry very carefully. All the skin products not prescribed by our doctors should be avoided. Do not rub face with towel. Do not pick at the face during the recovery period as this may lead to scarring or hyper-pigmentation.
5) Are there any side effects?
Generally, this treatment is effective and safe. Complications often arise when there is poor compliance to the advices and skincare prescribed by the doctors.
